A user centred design process requires a specific user group to be identified. We began this process by researching theories behind nature connection and it’s relation to environmental ambassadorship, finding evidence that an adult’s connectedness is closely related to their adolescent connectedness.
Our research findings showed that adolescents who spend time in nature have higher confidence and better well-being and adults who have memorable experiences in nature as adolescents are far more likely to be ambassadors for the environment. On this basis, we chose to target young teenagers with the characteristics highlighted in the user profile.
